Korean actor Ji Sung has been set to star in a 20 billion won blockbuster TV series titled “Kim Su-ro”, according to his agency Namoo Actors.

Ji Sung has been cast to play the lead role on King Kim Su-ro the first king of Geumwan Gaya in new historical drama of MBC, he playing the historic figure Kim Su-ro who founded and ruled the state of Geumgwan Gaya in the 5th century.

The traditional epic drama, which will also star noted Korean actors Yoo Oh-sung and Bae Jong-ok, is scheduled to go into shoot on location in China starting this month.

Ji Sung, whose real name is Kwak Tae-gun, debuted in 1999 in the popular campus drama “Kaist” (SBS).

He has since appeared in numerous television dramas, including “All In” (SBS, 2003), “Save the Last Dance for Me” (SBS, 2004) and “Swallow the Sun” (SBS, 2009).

Kim Su-ro will be air on 29th May 2010 - Saturday & Sunday 21:45 , 32 Episode, Chief Producer by Jang Geun Soo and Screenwriter by Kim Mi Sook.

The new MBC weekend drama "Kim Soo Ro" Trailer has released and show up the seven character posters which were taken after they are shooting the drama. The actors wearing their drama costumes have successfully pull out the attention of people.

The picture on above is Ji Sung portraying Kim Soo Ro sitting majestically on the chair complete with royal furniture. The following pictures is the other six main cast who co-work with Ji Sung, they are Yoo Oh Sung with ambitious pose as rival of Soo Ro, Bae Jong Ok playing the role of Soo Ro’s charismatic mother, Seo Ji Hye pose classy as Soo Ro’s queen, Go Joo Won as another rival of Soo Ro, Lee Pil Mo portraying Soo Ro’s charismatic friend who later becomes Soo Ro’s opponent, and Kang Byul with elegant pose as Soo Ro’s first love.





The historical epic series Kim Suro is in the thick of filming as it nears its May 27premiere (to replace MBC’s weekend drama series The Man Called God), and we’ve got more stills to show for it. Such as Seo Ji-hye, above, dressed as the part of King Suro’s bride, Heo Hwang-ok, who becomes the first queen of the Kaya nation.

In addition to Ji Sung as the titular Suro and Yoo Oh-sung as his main rival (with Lee Pil-mo acting the part of former friend and later enemy), the drama also features a cast of familiar faces with veterans like Lee Jong-won of East of Eden and Lee Won-jong of Partner (whose names I always get mixed up).

And also! Badass Bae Jong-ok! (Bae (The World They Live In) plays Suro’s mother, who is sent away from the battlefield by her husband to safety while pregnant with Suro.)

The character posters are out for the 7 main characters of MBC’s upcoming historical drama Kim Suro, who are played by the following: Ji Sung as the title character Kim Suro, Bae Jong-ok as his mother, Yoo Oh-sung as Suro’s ambitious rival, Seo Ji-hye as Suro’s queen, Go Joo-won as another rival, Kang Byul as Suro’s first love, and Lee Pil-mo as a former friend and later opponent. '김수로' 티저 포스터 공개…누리꾼 '기대돼!'

김수로왕의 일대기를 그린 MBC TV 주말 특별기획 드라마 '김수로'(김미숙 극본, 최종수 장수봉 공동연출)의 티저포스터가 공개됐다.

이번에 공개된 포스터 속에서 김수로왕(지성)은 전투 중인 수만 대군 앞에서 홀연히 정면을 응시해 굳은 의지를 보여줬다.

또 검을 꼭 쥔 손은 현실과 타협하지 않고 불의와 싸우며 만인을 아우르는 리저십을 가진 지도자로서의 김수로왕의 강인함을 느끼게 했다.

누리꾼들은 "'김수로'가 거친 남성 드라마를 보여줄 것 같다", "지성의 안타까운 눈빛..궁금하다" 등 '김수로왕'에 대한 기대감을 드러냈다.

한편 '김수로'는 현재 김해 마산 등지의 대규모 세트장에서 촬영 중이며, 오는 19일 제작발표회를 통해 드라마를 공개할 예정이다.

Kim Soo Ro (played by Ji Sung), the legendary founder of the city-state of Geumgwan Gaya during the Three Kingdoms Period. As well a kingdom story before, I think the story is about fight over the throne. Go Joo Won will play Kim Soo Ro’s rival as his step-brother by a different father.

Other stars who appear in the drama are Yoo Oh Seung playing the role of Shin Kwi Gan, Bae Jong Ok playing as Queen Jung Gyun, Soo Ro’s mother), Seo Ji Hye playing as Heo Hwang Ok, Gaya’s first Queen, and Kang Byul playing Ah Hyo, Soo Ro’s first love.

신예 강별이 MBC 새 주말드라마 '김수로'에서 김수로왕(지성)의 첫사랑인 아효 역으로 출연한다.

강별이 분한 아효는 사로국의 공주로, 구야국(김수로왕의 나라) 부흥의 열쇠인 철기기술을 빼내기 위해 구야국으로 잠입했다가 김수로와 만나 사랑에 빠진다. 공주의 몸으로 조국을 위해 직접 적국에 숨어들 만큼 배포가 크고 아름다움과 당돌한 매력을 동시에 지닌 인물이다.

2009년 연예계에 데뷔한 강별은 영화 '여고괴담5', 드라마 '인연만들기' '위기일발 풍년빌라' 등에서 열연한 바 있다.

그는 "아직 현대극도 몇 작품 해보지 않았는데 '김수로'라는 대작 드라마에 합류하게 돼 정말 기쁘고 두근거린다. 대선배님들과 함께 연기할 생각을 하니 무척 떨리지만 극중 아효처럼 당당한 매력을 선보이겠다"고 말했다.

지성 유오성 서지혜 등이 출연하는 '김수로'는 가야를 발전시켜 철기문명과 해상국가의 기반을 마련한 김수로왕의 일대기를 다룬 작품으로, 오는 29일 첫 방송된다.

Er, what now? Apparently MBC’s Kim Suro, the sageuk drama based on the founding myth of the Kaya nation, is going 3D, a first for a Korean television series.

According to producers, next month the drama will unveil its 3D portions (titles and making-of videos) after production has been completed. A sprawling battle scene that includes dozens of characters will unfold, literally, before our eyes. Ten minutes of the making-of video have already been filmed, and instead of converting that picture to 3D, it was actually shot from the get-go by 3D cameras.



There have been a few projects (on a smaller scale) that have used 3D video, such as the music video for Jo Sung-mo’s song “Days of Receiving Love,” which was the theme song to Sayonara Itsuka. The documentary Tears of Africa (which follows the hit Tears of the Amazon) is also being produced in 3D. The filming equipment used is the same used in Avatar.

Kim Suro stars Yoo Oh-sung, Bae Jong-ok, and Ji Sung. The first batch of 3D video previews will be released in mid- to late May.
